About the job

As a Market Driver for Isle of Wight Tomatoes, you will be part our team of market drivers, transporting product direct to our farmers markets across London and the south, trading at the markets and building relationships, providing a high level of customer service to established and popular farmers market destinations.

Our season is up and running and we need an experienced mainland driver to start immediately.

This role will suit someone who is looking for weekend work with the ability to confidently take on driving assignments, loves selling great produce and brings positive energy and great communication skills. You need to be physically fit due to the nature of your duties.

Key accountabilities & Responsibilities

• Delivering product and equipment on time and in full to markets.
• Promote and sell the finest varieties of tomatoes, and tomato-based products at weekly farmers markets.
• Merchandising and stock replenishment, customer services and product advice (training given).
• Process cash and card transactions.
• Ensuring the highest level of quality control and diligence when overseeing the product.
• Communicate effectively to maintain process control and Health & Safety compliance.
• Collection of vehicles, loading and unloading stock, set up, trade and pack down market stall.
• Vehicle checks and reporting necessary repairs.
• Complete any appropriate task given by your line manager in a timely manner and with a proactive attitude.

Key Competencies, skills, and behaviors for the role:

• Full UK Drivers Licence
• Confident driving in London and surrounding areas.
• Must be available to work on Fridays Saturdays and Sundays.
• Good level of fitness and movement due to the nature of the duties.
• Confident to work alone.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Adaptable to the needs of the business.
• Flexible with working hours and willing to stay away for the weekend.

Hourly Rate: £13.50 an hour.

Working Week: Hours can vary depending on assignments agreed. Approximately between 16- 30 hours a week.

Start Date: End of March.

Market driving runs can operate from Friday afternoon through to Sunday evening with overnight stays to accommodate early starts. Hours can vary and can be discussed in detail once we have made contact.
