Job Summary
As a Network Infrastructure Technician, you'll develop, maintain and administer infrastructure services, systems, applications and configurations and related hardware in accordance with GKN standards and industry best practices. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving system, software and hardware problems. You'll support front line IT staff in complicated infrastructure related matters, as well as documenting, tracking, monitoring, and communicating problems and business risks to ensure timely resolution and compliance.
Hybrid working is available, however suitable candidates will be required to work on site 3 days per week
Job Responsibilities
Typical responsibilities will include:
- Delivering infrastructure services to agreed SLA
- Troubleshooting/resolving problems associated with the infrastructure environment
- Working with hardware/software vendors to resolve technical support issues
- Coordinating and working with global architects and other regional Data Centre teams to ensure infrastructure and systems meet GKN Aerospace standards with regard to functionality, security, and maintainability
- Actively monitoring the system infrastructure to manage business systems and security risks
- Actively working with automating the IT infrastructure delivery
- Event Management: monitoring, measuring against SLA, triggering and reporting
- Incident Management: logging all incidents and resolving as quickly as possible
- Change Management: processing approved changes from Build into Run
- Asset & Configuration Management
Job Qualifications
Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate
Essential:
- A level (or equivalent) in an IT-related subject
- Some previous commercial IT infrastructure experience
- An ability to follow processes
- Self-driven with a motivation to succeed and provide world class services to the business
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Experience working in a high availability, high demand environment
- Able to work effectively in a virtual team environment
- Strong documentation skills
- Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written
Desirable
- Cyber security knowledge or experience;
- Technical certifications in Operating Systems, Microsoft Azure or equivalent;
- Technical certifications Cisco CCNA or equivalent;
- Powershell knowledge
- Knowledge of LINUX
