Contract: Permanent

Location: Newport Office & Hybrid

Founded in 1973, Age UK Isle of Wight is a local, independent registered charity (a Brand Partner of Age UK national), working across all our communities to provide services to Islanders aged 50+, their carers and families. We provide information and practical support to promote wellbeing, resilience and independence so that people can live in the Island’s community free from poverty, isolation and neglect.

We offer our employees a generous holiday entitlement, shop, and gym membership discounts and (post-qualifying period) healthcare benefits.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced person to take on the role of Marketing and Digital Communications Officer

Reporting to the Chief Officer, you will manage the public perception of the Charity and act as the central point of contact with the media. You will be responsible for creating e-communication materials, including managing, and writing content for our website and social media platforms.

This role requires a willingness to work occasional variable hours which will include some weekend and evening work.

The role will ideally be delivered on a full-time basis, however we will also consider applications from anyone wishing to work in a more flexible way, for example part/time, hybrid working, or applications from anyone not currently based on the Isle of Wight but who is prepared to travel to the Island on a regular basis.

Previous experience of working in the charity sector would be useful but most important is your background and proven experience of working in Marketing and Communications and your desire to continue to develop and improve the public’s awareness of what we do and the fact that we are a local charity and that all the money that we raise is used on the Island to help improve the lives of older Islanders.

Skills and experience required for this post include:

  • Must have held a similar role.
  • Self-motivated with a positive and professional approach
  • Confident communicator and presenter, with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong writing, editing, proof reading, layout, and design skills.
  • Experience in media and communications
  • Financial and budgetary management skills
  • Ability to use Website content management systems, social media platforms, web analytics tools and digital marketing methods.
  • Strong IT skills, including the use of Office 365 and the ability to learn and work with other systems used within the charity.
  • Strong time management skills, able to plan, manage and keep projects on track and on budget.
