IT Programming Apprentice - 64 Studio
Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work for 64 Studio as a programming apprentice.
Based in Freshwater on the Isle of Wight, 64 Studio Ltd. produces, integrates and documents free and open source hardware and software for media. They develop bespoke GNU/Linux distributions for partners, package their applications for automated installation, and design embedded system hardware.
Founded in 2005 on the Island, 64 Studio is an internationally recognised small business which has made notable technical achievements in real-time audio processing. Its customers are mostly in Europe and the USA.
They are now looking for a proactive and enthusiastic individual to join their friendly team as a programming apprentice.
The successful candidate will be working towards an IT Apprenticeship.
- You should be willing to learn large programs in-depth
- You should relish the challenge of solving complex problems
- You should be self-motivated and ready to use your initiative
- Working knowledge of the GNU/Linux shell and git
- Familiarity with web service deployment
GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills)
- Level 2 NVQ in IT – Applications Specialist
- Functional Skills in Maths, English and ICT if required
- Employment Rights and Responsibilities
- Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
- Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm
- 30-40 hours per week
Working hours can be flexible, where some days may have a later start or finish time.
- Depending on experience, to be determined at interview

Apprenticeship duration will be 12 – 18 months.
The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.70 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training.
