Rheinmetall Electronics UK (REUK) Ltd operates internationally, designing and manufacturing advanced electronics products and systems for the communications, defence, security and government services market.

The company is building upon the commercial success achieved to date and now needs to appoint an experienced person into the role of IT Operations Support.

Working as part of the REUK team and reporting to the Head of IT and Facilities, this role will take ownership of the IT Helpdesk and be responsible for day-to-day support of the company’s IT and communications infrastructure.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrable experience of providing a range of abilities, including 1st line support, working in a busy environment, with mostly Microsoft clients & servers with some Linux clients.

The ideal candidate will have worked in a similar role or with Windows Clients & Servers, Microsoft Office applications with the following being desirable; MS365 administration (including Sharepoint & Teams), Atlassian Confluence, Jira & Bit Bucket, SAP. This role will be vital in ensuring the effectiveness of our IT environment.

REUK is also a wholly owned subsidiary of the Rheinmetall Group and is called upon to offer in-house expertise and comment on Division or even Group level IT and communications topics, from a UK perspective.

Responsibilities & Tasks

Day-to-day management of the company IT Helpdesk:

• Taking all 1st line actions/activities.

• Triaging 2nd/3rd line actions/activities to relevant members of the IT department.

• Ensuring tickets are responded to in a timely manner.

• Provision of monthly reporting using the helpdesk’s built-in reporting function.

Client machines support:

• Configuring new prebuilt (OTS/COTS) laptops & desktops for new starters/upgrades.

• Resolving issues with applications such as, Microsoft Office (MS365), Atlassian suite, SAP.

• Set up new printers and other client peripherals as required.

Auditing, Reporting, Compliance:

• Reviewing the daily IT security audit logs and following up on any anomalies.

• Reviewing the daily backup logs and resolving any issues/failures.

• Rotation of backup media.

• Server restore testing exercises.

• Assisting with cyber-attack simulations.

Other:

• Server & Client updates (where manual intervention required) including use of Nessus.

• Administration of Active Directory.

• Administration of Windows & Linux server environment.

• Visits to REUK sites to provide both planned and ad hoc support/infrastructure implementations.

 

• Occasionally, out-of-hours work as and when required.

Required Skills

• Must have experience in providing IT support to Windows clients.

• Must have a reasonable level of experience with Microsoft Windows Server with Hyper-V.

• Proven experience providing support for Microsoft Office (ideally MS365).

• Setup, configuration (including Domain joining) of Windows clients.

• Experience of working within a secure environment with a minimum of Cyber Essentials Plus.

• Good analytical skills: forming decisions based on widespread, fragmented or uncertain data.

• Excellent interpersonal skills; confident in dealing with business contacts over phone, video

 

conference and email.

Desirable Skills

• Supporting Atlassian platforms, Confluence, Jira and Bit Bucket.

• SAP Business One (with BEAS Manufacturing) administration and development.

• Crystal Report writing.

• Experience in using/administering Darktrace appliances.

• Administration of ESET Protect.

• Ubuntu Linux administration within an enterprise environment.

• Familiarity with Nessus vulnerability scanning service.

 

• Experience with Microsoft Office VBA.

• Experience with MSSQL Server administration and scripting.

• High familiarity with the needs and drivers of an ISO9000 accredited, defence manufacturing

company.

Full time 37.5 hrs per wk.
