TRAINEE MATHS TUTOR / TRAINER

We have successfully gained DfE training grants to develop specialist maths teachers to support our existing and future cohorts of learners. So, if you are an experienced maths tutor / trainer or would like to develop as one now is your chance to be paid from day one to develop your career in post 16 education.
HTP offer class based, work skills, pre-apprenticeship and activity-based programmes designed to engage young people, some of whom may have specific support needs. We are preparing young people for further training, employment and the next stage of adulthood.
Successful candidates will be working with learners, predominantly aged 16-18, at our Riverbank centre in Newport. They will be required to tutor, and support learners in all aspects of maths to attain maths at entry level functional skills, Level 1 or 2 or GCSE. Maths is an important element of our college-based programmes and tutoring can be in small groups (2 to15 learners) or on a one-to-one basis.
Who will suit this role?
This role will suit individuals who are focused on providing quality educational support to develop young people. All candidates must have a good academic level of maths at GCSE or A level, and a desire to work with our learners. Successful candidates will be fully integrated as part of the HTP team and are expected to deliver training, support learners and contribute to the ongoing development of HTP’s programmes.
Experience working with learners aged 16-18, including those with additional support needs, would be an advantage but is not necessary. Teaching experience or qualifications are also an advantage but not a necessity, as training and development to become a qualified and experienced maths Tutor / Trainer will be supported by HTP for the right candidates.
The vacancy is full time 5 days a week and attracts a good remuneration and benefits package dependent upon experience and qualifications. Term time only contracts could be considered for candidates with previous experience. Please note that an HTP working day is from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 4-30pm Friday.
