Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as a Logistics and Inventory Apprentice at IFPL Group.

Owing to previous apprentice success, IFPL are now seeking a Logistics and Inventory apprentice to join their friendly team. Reporting to the Logistics Coordinator, the role will involve supporting the logistics team with the planning and transportation of goods both importing and exporting and assisting with managing and maintaining inventory levels.

With over 3.5 million units shipped worldwide and a proven reputation for reliability earned over more than 25 years, IFPL work closely with our clients to provide services from initial concept and prototyping to complete manufacturing, and logistics.

The successful candidate will be working towards completion of the Supply Chain Warehouse Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.

 

Tasks and responsibilities will include:

·        Generate invoices, packing lists and other export documentation.

 

·        Assist with arranging carriers to ship goods, working with suppliers to obtain the best shipping prices.

 

·        Update stock information on computer systems.

 

·        Picking and packing of goods.

 

·        Work with the wider team to deliver quotes for any ad hoc shipping requirements.

 

·        Expedite shipments and resolving queries.

 

·        Perform regular cycle counts across both sites, reconciling physical counts with system      records to batch level.

 

·        Support the picking team in supplying kits to the shop floor and sub-contractors in a timely manner as required.

 

·        The ability to adapt to different systems such as Warehouse management systems and Microsoft office.

 

·        Study, understand and adhere to the requirements of all COPS, Health and Safety, Environmental and HR Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications Required:

 

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification and/or ability to work towards these Functional Skills.) 

 

Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Supply Chain Warehouse Level 2 Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English if required and not previously achieved GCSE grade 4 or above.
  • There is a requirement to complete off the job training for 6 hours per week during working hours. College attendance will contribute but time spent either learning something new, other courses or any support work that is not in your usual role will also be counted.

 

Working Week:     

37.5 hours per week.  

 

Wage:

 Dependant on age, above apprenticeship national minimum wage.

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £6.40 per hour. This applies to 16-18-year-old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship.
