Delivery Driver / Warehouse Assistant

Solent Beds & Furniture, the Isle of Wight’s leading independent furniture retailer, has an exciting opportunity for a Delivery Driver / Warehouse Assistant to join our busy distribution team based at our central warehouse in Lake.

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking and friendly individual to help deliver furniture to our customers across the Isle of Wight while also supporting the day-to-day running of our warehouse.

This is a varied, hands-on role and would suit someone who enjoys being active, working as part of a team and providing great customer service.

The Role

A key part of the role will be delivering beds, mattresses, sofas and furniture to our customers' homes. You'll represent Solent Beds & Furniture when meeting our customers, so being friendly, helpful and professional is extremely important.

When you're not out making deliveries, you'll work alongside our warehouse team preparing orders, receiving stock and helping keep our busy distribution operation running smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver beds, mattresses, sofas and furniture to customers across the Isle of Wight.
• Provide a friendly, professional and helpful service when entering customers' homes.
• Handle customers' furniture carefully and respectfully at all times.
• Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Check customer orders for accuracy before leaving the warehouse.
• Assist with assembling and positioning furniture in customers' homes where required.
• Assist with incoming supplier deliveries and unloading stock.
• Pick and prepare customer orders ready for delivery.
• Help with the movement, storage and organisation of furniture throughout the warehouse.
• Assist with stock control and maintaining accurate stock records.
• Complete delivery paperwork and other relevant documentation.
• Carry out basic vehicle checks and help ensure company vehicles are kept clean and presentable.
• Follow company Health & Safety procedures and safe manual-handling practices.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
• Work closely with the warehouse and delivery teams to ensure customers receive their orders safely and on time.

About You

We're looking for someone who:

• Holds a full UK driving licence.
• Is reliable, punctual and has excellent timekeeping.
• Is physically fit and comfortable with the manual handling involved in delivering furniture.
• Has a friendly and professional manner with customers.
• Takes pride in providing excellent customer service.
• Works well as part of a team.
• Is careful and respectful when handling furniture and working inside customers' homes.
• Has a positive attitude and practical approach to solving problems.
• Is comfortable working in a busy, fast-paced environment.
• Understands the importance of Health & Safety and safe manual handling.
• Is flexible and willing to help wherever required.

Previous experience in furniture delivery, removals, warehousing, logistics or home delivery would be an advantage, but the right attitude, reliability and willingness to work hard are just as important.
