Summary
We are recruiting for an enthusiastic and proactive Fundraising Assistant who can hit the ground running to support a dynamic calendar of fundraising events and initiatives.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in building and maintaining strong relationships with supporters, donors, and colleagues. Your excellent interpersonal skills and confident communication style will help you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Highly organised and detail-oriented, you’ll take pride in maintaining accurate records and managing tasks efficiently. You’ll bring initiative, determination, and a strong sense of accountability to your work. You’ll have experience of using a database (ideally Salesforce) and be confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience in fundraising and/or events would be very beneficial.
This position is based in Newport on the Isle of Wight. The salary is £14,285pa for 22.5 hours per week, based on FTE £23,080.
Responsibilities
- Make and maintain key fundraising contacts in the local community, including schools, community groups and small businesses.
- To assist with the organisation and delivery of events, which will include booking venues, arranging licences, organising entertainment, transport, sourcing and thanking raffle prizes etc.
- To assist with the recruitment and stewardship of event participants which will include responding to all queries in a timely fashion, building relationships by phone and email, encouraging and motivating participants to meet and exceed targets.
- To be the first point of contact for email, telephone and face-to-face fundraising enquiries, including requests for fundraising materials and volunteering opportunities. Respond to enquiries within 48 hours, recognising the opportunity to build relationships and encourage fundraising support.
- To attend events as required (including some evening and weekends).
- Help to promote the charity’s events and fundraising activities in the community, including the creation and sharing of promotional materials, as needed.
- Ensure donations are banked and recorded correctly on the CRM, and work with the Head Office finance team to follow the correct procedures.
- To ensure donors are thanked appropriately and in a timely fashion.
- To co-ordinate the distribution of collection cans in the community and maintain the appropriate records.
- To organise bucket collections in the community and recruit volunteers to administer them.
- To raise awareness of the need to recruit new, active and enthusiastic volunteers across the organisation.
- To work with the Regional Fundraising Manager to ensure excellent stewardship and support of volunteers.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills and confidence to engage at all levels.
- Strong attention to detail and administrative skills.
- IT literate, with experience of using a database (preferably Salesforce).
- Competent in creating and maintaining spreadsheets accurately.
- Full driving license.
- Knowledge and experience of working in the charity sector (desirable)
- Experience in fundraising and/or events. (desirable)
