Age UK Isle of Wight is seeking a Central Service Team Assistant to join our team. This role offers a diverse range of tasks and the opportunity to support the wellbeing of our older community on the Island.

The Central Service Team aims to empower individuals to make informed decisions in support of their health and wellbeing by providing up-to-date information and signposting. As Central Services Team Assistant you will be the first point of contact for our charity, meeting and greeting clients, volunteers and support workers, providing them with essential information or signposting/referral to the services they need. 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Meet and greet Age UK IW clients, volunteers and support workers either in person, via telephone (Call Switch) or email 
  • Create, update and record information ensuring accuracy and validity of information 
  • Provide information from Age UK online information systems and other sources to our clients, referring them on to more specialist advice where needed 
  • Monitoring levels of supplies and literature and ordering when necessary 
  • Support with recruitment processes and monitoring of ongoing compliance 
  • Processing payments and donations to support our services 
  • Support with administration duties across all three sectors, information & signposting, volunteering and home help services 
  • A commitment to the aims and principles of Age UK IW 

Do you have? 

  • Excellent communication skills with a friendly, professional telephone manner, an approachable style and ability to form positive relationships  
  • Experience in using VoIP softphones (Desirable, but training will be provided during induction) 
  • Experience of handling calls of a sensitive nature and remaining calm under pressure and in difficult situations. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook and teams
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the charity and external organisations 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Analytical abilities and aptitude in problem-solving 
  • Flexible approach to working to meet the demands of a high paced department
