A great opportunity has arisen at The White Lion in Arreton, for an Apprentice Food and Beverage Team Member.

The White Lion has been at the heart of the village of Arreton for well over 200 years. The pub is family friendly with an open fire surrounded by a comfortable sofa and chairs, a perfect place to enjoy a drink. Outside there is a courtyard where you can admire the view of the 11th century church of St George's and the downlands beyond. 

As an Apprentice Food and Beverage Team Member, you will take on a full-time role under the supervision of the managers.

The successful applicant will be undertaking the Food and Beverage Team Member Level 2 Apprenticeship with HTP Apprenticeship College.

Key Responsibilities:

-          Carrying out a range of food and beverage service activities meeting quality, deadline, productivity, hygiene, financial and environmental requirements

-          Responsible for timing of service, atmosphere, and guest management front of house

-          Responsible for ensuring customer needs are met and acting to increase the popularity of the establishment and profitability of products, including promoting items and upselling to customers

-          Clean and sanitise work areas, utensils and equipment and make sure seating areas were cleared and ready for new customers

-          Contribute to stock management, proactive planning, and risk management, meeting daily, weekly, and monthly to provide innovative suggestions and ideas

Desired Skills:

None – We are just looking for someone with passion, personality and a desire to learn and progress within hospitality. Enthusiasm - is a must! 

Personal Qualities:

-          Excellent communication skills

-          Effective time management (including organising & planning)

-          Good interpersonal skills

-          Ability to follow policy and procedures

-          A flexibility to work weekends and holidays – this is a Must in any hospitality role

-          Self-motivated and capable of working on your own and with others

-          A flexible approach to getting any task done

Hours:

The hours will be a minimum of 30, which will increase during busier times and the holiday season. Split shifts, including day/eve/weekends.

Candidates should ideally have achieved GCSE Maths and English at grades A-C (9-4) or Functional Skills Level 2 in both Maths and English, or may have to work towards this in order to complete the apprenticeship.
