Contract type: Permanent, 30 hours per week
Salary: £23000 gross per annum for a 30-hour week
Hours: Primarily, Thursdays to Sundays - 30 hours per week
Holidays: 28 days (inc normal UK bank and public holidays)

The Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) is a private members’ club and a leading authority in international and domestic offshore yacht racing with Clubhouses in central London and Cowes.
Steeped in history, the RORC Cowes Clubhouse is a magnificent building set on Castle Hill, which has recently undergone a £2million refurbishment. The Cowes Clubhouse enjoys a prime elevated site with outstanding views of the Solent.
The Cowes Clubhouse provides accommodation with 13 rooms, many with Solent views, and excellent dining options all year round for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The RORC Bar Supervisor is a key member of the hospitality team, acting as a primary point of contact for guests enjoying the facilities at the Cowes Clubhouse and providing a vital link between the management team and members. This is a permanent position with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours during peak seasons.
Summary
The Bar Supervisor reports to the Front of House & Events Manager and has responsibility for the smooth and efficient running of the Bar. The Bar Supervisor must deliver the highest possible standard of service to members and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Bar
· Comply with current licencing laws
· Ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the Bar
· Ensure the appearance of the bar and bar area are maintained to the highest possible standard
· Receive orders for food and communicate correctly to the kitchen
· Operate the till data recording and collection system efficiently
· Provide excellent standard of customer service to all members and visitors to the club
· Provide support in any area, particularly the restaurant, as and when necessary
· Ensure that stock is correctly rotated & replenished
· Ensure all cleaning and stock checklists are carried out each week
Staff Management
· Manage casual staff to ensure they provide the highest possible standards of customer service
· Train casual staff in the running of the bar area
· Ensure all casual staff adhere to the club’s uniform and appearance standards
· Ensure all casual staff understand and comply with Health & Safety legislation
Front of House
· Meet and greet residents staying at the club and show to their rooms
· Respond to any accommodation requests and queries, advising the Front of House and Events Manager of any maintenance issues
· Receive and handle comments and complaints from members and visitors. Ensure complaints are escalated to the Front of House and Events Manager, when necessary
Health and Safety
· Ensure highest standards of hygiene and health and safety are maintained in all areas of the club house.
· Ensure Health and Safety legislation is adhered to.
· Record any incident or accident in the appropriate place and report all incidents and accidents to the Front of House and Events Manager.
· Ensure the club and bar area is securely locked up when last to leave the premises and set the alarm using the app.
Communication
· Liaise with Front of House and Events Manager wherever necessary
· Liaise with Administrator wherever necessary
· Attend staff meetings
· Ensure clear communication is maintained with kitchen and restaurant staff
· Deal with any telephone bookings, queries and complaints. Liaise with Front of House and Events Manager where necessary
Person Specification
The successful candidate will:
· Have a friendly, professional and welcoming manner, with the ability to build strong rapport with members and guests.
· Demonstrate a high level of personal integrity, reliability and trustworthiness.
· Maintain an appropriate level of sobriety and professionalism at all times while on duty.
· Have good practical knowledge of bar operations, including beers, wines, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
· Show excellent customer service skills, with a calm and courteous approach, even under pressure.
· Be well presented, with a smart and tidy appearance in line with club standards.
· Have strong communication skills and be able to work effectively as part of a small hospitality team.
· Be organised and methodical, with good attention to detail (particularly around stock control, cash handling and cleanliness).
· Have a good understanding of licensing law, health & safety and responsible service of alcohol.
Desirable
· Previous experience in a private members’ club, hotel, or high-quality hospitality environment.
· A genuine interest in food, drink and hospitality.
· Knowledge of wine and spirits beyond the “red/white/large” level.
· First Aid or food hygiene qualification (or willingness to obtain).
