We are seeking skilled developers for potentially two new roles focused on programming within this innovative, foward thinking company based on the 'technology hub' that is the Isle of Wight. 

This employer is focused on the development, design and support of web based programmes and applications, all of which are designed to lead the way in streamlining the processes and systems of a valuable and rewarding business sector. 

To be successful in this company, the developer will need to be confident and experienced in project management, with a proven track record of delivering to specified deadlines. Applicants should also demonstrate a desire to take ownership of individual development projects, embracing innovation and creativity.  

Day to day duties will include: 

  • Research of new technologies
  • Designing, coding, testing and providing support
  • Quality assurance projects 
  • Utilising team skills to work alongside others
  • Sharing of ideas and results with colleagues in an open working environment
  • Communicating at a high level with both technical staff and customers 
  • To support other teams in order to engage additional new projectes 

It is vital due to the nature of work undertaken, that all applicants will be able and willing to work in strictest confidence regarding data protection and other governance and security requirements.

Developers at this firm enjoy a great deal of flexibility and freedom to be creative, with the majority of programmes written from scratch. This is a vibrant and engaging work environment with ideas constantly being bounced around and colleagues working cohesively to create innovative products. 

To fit in with this talented team applicants will need to demonstrate some if not all of the following skills: 

  • Sound knowledge of the software design lifecycle, version control, programming, project documentation and work scheduling.
  • Strong understanding of user needs identification, user interface design and usability testing.
  • Proven experience with database design and systems security management at application, network and internet levels.
  • Skilled with programming languages ie: PHP, Golang, Javascript, Node.js, C,Lua (other applications considered) 
  • Confident utilising databases such as MySQL, MariaDB,MongoDB, Key Value Stores.
  • Experience working in Unix / Linux environments
  • Interest and ability to learn and use other coding languages as needed.

NB: Although not essential, we are hoping to hear from applicants with the ability to develop distributed systems (e.g. microservices / SOA) and / or the ability to write and use RESTful APIs. Applicants with experience in writing and using 'unit tests', network programming with Unix, and / or skills with Docker / Linux containers will have an advantage.
