A SEND Casework Officer facilitates, coordinates and manages the statutory processes for children and young people (0-25) who may require an Education, Health and Care Plan.  The CWO represents the Local Authority working with children, young people and their families, schools, settings and colleagues from education, health and social care to ensure that the EHCP assessment and provision is implemented in a person centred manner. The post makes up part of the SEN Assessment and Review Team which is part of the wider SEN Service based at Thompson House.

Please note that this role falls within the strategic partnership between the Isle of Wight Council and Hampshire County Council. The employer will be the Isle of Wight Council and employment is on Isle of Wight terms and conditions.  Hampshire County Council delivers, on behalf of the Isle of Wight Council, all of its children’s services functions and will do so for a period of five years from 1 July 2013  with a review after three years or until the agreement has been revoked by the Secretary of State.  The management reporting line for this role is ultimately through Hampshire County Council Children’s Services Director/Assistant Director and managers who take operational responsibility for children’s services. The partnership agreement has now been extended for a further five years with agreement by both Local Authorities
