Here at The Isle of Wight College we work with a number of employers, in a vast array of industries. A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work at The Meeting Pod Co as a Performing Engineering Operations Apprentice.

The Meeting Pod Co are an exciting, innovative and rapidly growing Island company who design, manufacture and install a range of pods to meet every modern office’s need.

Meeting pods - otherwise referred to as acoustic pods, office pods or meeting booths - are a sophisticated and modern alternative to partitioned meeting space.

With a rapidly growing client base, and a variety of different style pods, The Meeting Pod Co are looking to hire a hard-working and eager-to-learn Apprentice to assist in all aspects of manufacturing the pods.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparation of composite materials
  • Cutting and prep work
  • Assembling parts
  • Assisting on installations

  • Punctual and hard working
  • Able to work alone and as part of a team
  • Motivated
  • Eager to learn
  • Ability to read and follow instruction sheets
  • A willingness to learn and ask for help when needed

Qualifications Required

  • GCSE grade D or above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification)

Apprenticeship Framework

  • Intermediate Apprenticeship in Performing Engineering Operations
  • Functional Skills in Maths and English, if required

Working Week

  • 7am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday
  • Day release at the IW College’s brand new building, CECAMM - term time only

Hourly Wage

  • Dependant on Experience

The current National Minimum Wage (NMW) rate for apprentices is £3.50 per hour. This applies to 16-18 year old apprentices and those aged over 19 in the first year of their Apprenticeship. For all other apprentices the National Minimum wage appropriate to their age applies. The Minimum Wage for Apprentices applies to time spent on the job plus time spent training. Once qualified, there may be an opportunity to progress to full time employment, depending on suitability / need. Apprenticeship duration will be 12 - 18 months.
