Contract Type: Full time
Location: Cowes

Closing Date: Friday 30th June

Catering, Hospitality & Bar / Chefs

Based in the popular seaside town of Cowes, the Island Sailing Club is a hub for its members, looking to embrace the true spirit of the sea. With the club now reaching roughly 2,500 members, we are looking for a Sous Chef to join our catering team, working all year round.

We hold a historical reputation and boast the perfect location for a Sailing Club, based right on Cowes promenade, making us a popular choice for hungry sailors and large functions. The clubs Bar and Restaurant is doing respectively well, producing a fresh A La Carte menu for its members.

As our Sous Chef, we’re really looking for someone with a passion for excellent quality food, that really bursts with enthusiasm to continue to learn more alongside a supportive team. The club is renowned for its high standards and it’s important to us that we have a team in place that can follow these standards and exceed them where possible.

We welcome creative input from you, giving you the opportunity to really engage with the menu you’re working on and grow as a professional Sous Chef.

Naturally, the club is extremely busy throughout the summer period and slows down in the winter months where you will be focusing more on functions such as parties, weddings or corporate entertaining. These functions can cater for up to 150 people and will require you to be a real team player in order to produce only the best experience for our guests and members.

The increase in our customer base throughout the summer means you will be working in a very fast paced environment, it’s important to us that you’re able to cope with this and ideally have some previous experience of this volume within a previous role.

You will be working very closely with the Head Chef and stepping up in their absence in order to keep things running smoothly. Previous experience at a similar level is vital for this position.

Please Note: This position will require you to work split shifts throughout the peak seasons and hours will average at 42 per week over the year with more hours worked during busy periods and less during quieter times (TOIL).

If this sounds like an opportunity you’re interested in, please apply below with an up to date CV and a covering letter detailing your experience as a Chef and why you’re suitable for this position.
