This Vacancy would suit either; a school leaver, a candidate who has some work experience or has completed a traineeship 

A fantastic opportunity is available to enter the exciting world of Retail and Medicine as an Apprentice Pharmacy Assistant at the Seaview Pharmacy.

Working in a community pharmacy, you will gain experience in Retail, learn about over-the counter medicines, assist in dispensing, ordering and presenting stock.  In addition a new Post office counter service will be joining the business and you will be working in this area.

Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Serve customers.
  • Help to manage retail stock and shop presentation.
  • Assist in the dispensary, dispensing prescriptions, checking stocks, putting stocks on shelves, dispensing medicines into medicines dosage systems under close supervision of pharmacist.  
  • General administration work like taking phone messages, filing paperwork, keeping the retail and dispensary clean and tidy
  • Full Post office counters training and duties.

Full induction and training will be provided to help you work within the Seaview Pharmacy Standard Operating Procedures.

On top of your Apprenticeship in Retail, you will gain a nationally recognised qualification of ‘Medicine Counter Assistant and Post office counter training.

Skills Required

Attention to detail and customer service skills are vital for this position.

Apprenticeship Standard

Retail standard in addition the employer will be providing a Medicine Counter Assistant qualification (National Pharmacy Assistant distance learning package and on-the-job training)

Qualifications Required   

  • C’s in both Maths and English

Personal Qualities   

  • Friendly and Approachable
  • Keen learner 

Working Week

  • Contracted hours: 30 hours per week
  • 6 hours per day, 5 days week.
  • Additional hours to cover holiday shifts and work.

Weekly Wage

  • The standard apprenticeship wage @ £3.50 (this will increase to £3.60)if under 18.
  • Salary may be increased subject to experience

This would suit a school or college leaver or someone who is starting out in Customer Service with no qualifications or real experience already in this field.
