The Dell at Seaview are looking to recruit an Apprentice Commis Chef.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a career in professional cookery and undertake a professional qualification.

The Dell is set in beautiful surroundings, and uses fresh ingredients for its varying menus.

As an apprentice Commis Chef, you will take on a full-time role in the kitchen under the supervision of passionate chefs alongside your training.

You will be training for the level 2 commis chef qualification with HTP Apprenticeship College.

Key Responsibilities:

·        Preparing ingredients, vegetables, meats and fish ready for service

·        Assist the chefs in the food preparation process and undertake any other relative activities under the head chefs direction

·        To work on the cold side and the pass as required

·        To check and ‘polish’ dishes before they reach the customer

·        Remedy any problems or defects after consulting with the head chef/business owners

·        Comply with nutrition, allergen and sanitation regulations and safety standards

·        Making sure that the kitchen is clean, tidy and safe after service

·        To help to construct menus with new or existing culinary creations in collaboration with the Head Chef and the business owners.

·        To help maintain stock rotation and good ordering, communication with suppliers and setting product pricing

·        To maintain all paperwork/diary entries and temperature records and ensure that they are kept up to date

·        Also to foster a climate of cooperation and respect between co-workers

·        The flexibility to work weekends and holidays – as this is a MUST in hospitality

·        Self-motivated and capable of working on your own and working with others

·        A flexible approach to getting any task done

Wage:

Minimum wage for Age

Hours:

The working hours will be a minimum of 35 per week, but more may be offered in high season.

Initially this will be based on 4 ½ working days, including weekends.

Candidates will need to have achieved Maths and English at GCSE or equivalent grades A-C (9-4) or Level 2 Functional skills in maths and English before completing the qualification.
